The outside view of the cottage is deceptive. What looks like a single-storey dwelling opens up to reveal stairs up to a kingsize and twin bedroom, plus a family bathroom.
Downstairs is a tiled hallway (perfect for leaving wellies and coats after coastal walks) and a handy loo/shower room. Step into the generous living room, and you will see that it also leads onto a bright cottage kitchen. It has all been tastefully and simply decorated in traditional shades to reflect its history and location.
Please note, because of the layout and shared courtyard, we are unable to accept children under seven years old or dogs. Babies in arms are welcome, but we do not keep a cot or highchair on the premises.
Both the King and the Twin bedrooms have a fresh coastal cottage feel. There are some sloping ceilings above the beds, but there is plenty of headspace and they are bright and welcoming. Both are carpeted for comfort, and have country pine drawer storage plus a small desk for working if necessary – or using as a dressing table if not! The king bedroom has a small wardrobe, while the twin has a traditional, wall-mounted clothes rail and hooks.
Everything you might need has been thought of so you will find a hair dryer, magnified make-up mirror and laundry basket in the master bedroom, plenty of towels, and lots of good hangers.
The upstairs bathroom is easily accessed by both bedrooms and has a large walk in shower as well as a wooden clad bath under the eaves. Downstairs is a small vintage green loo/shower room – perfect for jumping straight into if you are feeling a bit sandy or muddy!
The living room has all you want for cosy nights in front of the wide Purbeck stone fireplace and the highly efficient log burner. There is a fluffy cream rug, a three-seater feather sofa with plenty of cushions, and two comfy armchairs. There is also traditional country dresser with board games to enjoy, a TV with Freeview, Amazon and Netflix and drawers packed with DVDs, if you are still squabbling about what to watch!
This bright and airy kitchen has been recently renovated and is well equipped with modern appliances, while still maintaining the look and feel of the traditional cottage kitchen.
There are hand-crafted wooden worktops, a Belfast sink with beautiful brass taps, a hand-painted kitchen dresser, and a traditional country window, overlooking the courtyard. There is also a cottage kitchen table for four, with a mix of bench and chair seating.
You will find basics such as olive oil, condiments, some dishwasher and washing machine tabs already there – and keen cooks won’t be disappointed by the quality of the kitchen knives or range of pans.
